Architectural | Design and Built
Project Location: Seremban, Malaysia
Project Type: 1 storey Bungalow
Land Size: 5400 sqft

Located in the peaceful village of Seremban, lush greenery with calming atmosphere surround this area. The bungalow is getting a complete makeover for its exterior. Our team aims to transform the dull exterior into a modern and clean facade that blends harmoniously with its context.

“This will be our weekend home to break away from the hustle and bustle of the city. We will also host our guests and relatives here during the Raya celebration. My family members don’t know about this yet, which will be a surprise gift for them”, said the owner.

After the brainstorming sessions, our team has come up with the following proposal for the house:

  • Redesign of surrounding fencing
  • Extension of building interior
  • Extension of the car porch roof
  • Additional Koi Pond feature
  • Additional Glass Terrace
  • Repropose finishes and colours

The front façade is significant as it is the first impression of a building. We proposed a full-height feature wall cladded with natural stone and a built-in unit number display as an entrance statement. The mix of neutral tones between the natural stone cladding and dark grey spray paint finishes give the house an earthy and humble touch in the village setting.

We propose to extend the car porch to accommodate more vehicles. Cement texture tiles and aluminium ceiling panels are selected to give the car porch a modern look. Besides, we also propose to change the existing windows to full height to gain more natural light for the indoors.

Koi pond: The journey from the corridor to the glass terrace is linked by the individual 2’x2’ platforms above the water of the new koi pond.

Fencing: Perforated metal sheets fencing is built on top of the planter box as an alternative to typical solid brick wall fencing. The perforated sheet allows some glimpse of the surrounding greenery without compromising the privacy of the owner. The planting also helps to add another layer of privacy besides softening the landscape of the corridor.

Red brick feature wall gives character to the indoor terrace. Aluminium louvres are added below the glass roofing to block the harsh afternoon sun.
